Why the MaLo Cap is the best Cap on the market.
The cap is designed to support the bottom of the oil filter housing. The three prongs are a crucial feature for the proper function of the oil filter cage.
Without it, the bottom could fall out as the plastic gets brittle over time and your engine would run with unfiltered oil.

The first image reveals the oil bypass base plate (blue arrow) being removed, exposing the birdcage internals. Note the small clips (red arrows) on the base plate, prone to brittleness and cracking over time due to heat cycles, weakening the assembly. This can lead to a loose base plate, risking a faulty seal and unfiltered oil bypass, causing engine wear. BMW's solution involves supporting tabs on the cap's interior, preventing base plate loosening even if clips fail. This design, also adopted by Malo at my request, addresses a common weakness overlooked by other companies.

How it all began...
In 2019, fueled by a love for high-performance vehicles, I embarked on a mission to upgrade my N54-powered 135i with a single turbo. In the process of addressing all known issues on the N54 I learned about the serpentine belt problem and to my surprise found no viable solution on the market.
As CNC Machinist by trade, I decided to take matters into my own hands and thus MaLo Industries was born.

Can I perform the install myself?
Absolutely, just make sure you have the OEM filter wrench, ideally a new oil filter and install all new O-rings.
Note: To ensure your filter stays in the cap when performing oil changes, we designed the cap to have a tight fit with the filter cage. Only the original BMW cage will work with the cap.
